Sassy Merriam-Webster Trolls Trump On ‘Foe’

[ad_1]

The increasingly saucy writers guiding the Merriam-Webster Dictionary Twitter account have zapped Donald Trump for contacting the European Union a “foe.”

“I imagine the European Union is a foe,” Trump mentioned Sunday in a CBS job interview on “Experience the Country.” “What they do to us in trade. Now you would not assume of the European Union, but they are a foe.”

Merriam-Webster appeared to be just as stunned as People in america — and Europeans — ended up. But the president did use the word “foe,” and of course, the dictionary certain in a tweet, the definition of “foe” stays the same.

Specially cheeky was the dictionary’s use of the word in a sample sentence: “Many considered him a foe of democracy.”

Twitter fell head-above-heels in appreciate. One tweet supplied the dictionary a consume. Another tongue-in-cheek remark questioned Merriam-Webster who the hell she thought she was, dictating term definitions.
