PRINCE Andrew faces another legal battle over claims he was at Jeffrey Epstein’s mansion the night the paedophile raped a teenager.

The victim’s lawyer, Spencer Kuvin, seeks a statement from The Duke of York, 62, and has threatened to serve him with legal papers if required.

Kuvin acts on behalf of Caroline Kaufman, 28, who claims she was raped by Epstein at his New York home after she attended a meeting with him believing it was a modelling casting when she was just 17.

He told the Mirror: “We are looking into serving Prince Andrew.

“We’d get a subpoena issued here in the States which is brought over to England and localised, then we would have to locate him and have him served. He should be a fairly easy target to locate.”

It comes as last week it was revealed that the disgraced Duke was hoping for a royal comeback to public life.

But he was banned from appearing at the Order of the Garter ceremony after Charles and William raised fears of a public “backlash”.

The Queen ordered Andrew to stay out of sight “for his own good” following the tense family talks.

The decision sparked Andrew’s fury, who reportedly has since refused to socialise with Charles and William.

Just five months after he was stripped of his title, he has asked the Queen, 96, to return it.

The Duke lost his titles amid the highly-damaging case brought against him by sex abuse accuser Virginia Giuffre, 38, which led to a multi-million-pound payout in February.

In a statement, at the time, Andrew told of his “regret” over his ties to paedophile financier Epstein.

He also vowed to “demonstrate” his remorse by “supporting the fight against the evils of sex trafficking, and by supporting its victims”.

However, Kuvin added: “Frankly, it’s an embarrassment to the Royal Family he is attempting a comeback at all.

“If Prince Andrew wants to stay true to his word I urge him to provide a statement about what happened the night Caroline was attacked.

“He should be volunteering, we shouldn’t be looking into serving him to get his deposition.

“Caroline wants to know what he has to say. She wants all witnesses to come forward.”

Caroline, previously claimed she was recruited by a young woman aged 16 at a horse show.

She alleges the rape took place in December 2010 during a party at Epstein’s mansion.
